Please take care in handling your stained glass piece, as it is both strong (reinforced with solder) and vulnerable to breaking at the same time and the lead came or copper foil is vulnerable to bending or other structural damage. It is quite normal for each piece of colored glass to have slight imperfections or variation in color or texture; this is normal and a part of what makes each sheet of glass they are cut from unique. It is also important to be mindful so as not to scratch the glass of your piece. Before being hung, larger window panels should be held and transported vertically and also stored vertically against a wall or other strong support at a slight angle. Specific care instructions will be provided with your order.
Gold leaf is very delicate and unforgiving, and each gilded piece will have slight “imperfections” that are unique to the quality of each leaf and process and tell the piece’s particular story that make it one-of-a-kind. Please be aware that any gilded art should be handled carefully and minimally. While gold leaf is protected with varnish or paint in most pieces, it is still wise to avoid getting fingerprints on the piece itself. The delicate nature of gold leaf makes it very vulnerable to scratches, nicks, or smudges, so any gilded surface should be left alone from human contact as much as possible – it is generally meant to be decorative for display. Special cleaning instructions will be provided with your order.
All pieces made by Willow Deep Studio are made with high quality materials with qualified skill and care. The delicate nature of stained glass and gold leaf materials leaves them vulnerable to scratches, nicks, bends, cracks and other wear and tear each buyer assumes at their own risk. If you have damaged your piece of art, Willow Deep will be happy to repair or replace it for a specified fee.
When handled and maintained mindfully with care, stained glass and gold leaf works of art can last for up to one hundred years and become a part of the history from which the crafts originate.
